If you were going to buy $1000 laptop what would you buy? I'm open to a Mac if the budget could work.
I need space, decent monitor, portability, Wireless, DVD Burner, XP is preferred vs Vista if I go PC. The faster the better of course.
My uses will be basic documents, presentations, browsing, pictures, etc. I'm not a super power user or anything. If I was, the budget would be 2.5x.
I hope to order by the end of the week, I'll post back the short list.
Thanks for any input. _________________ I'd Rather be in Key West.

Get a refurbed Dell. I have gotten 5 already in the last 6 years and they are all awesome! Can get something pretty nice easily for your price range. _________________ 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan

Thanks, that is in consideration, from that whole refurbed site out there. I've had a couple Dells and my Thinkpads have seemed so much better. Is it just me?
Also, isn't Dell on the verge of going out of business? _________________ I'd Rather be in Key West.

got my compaq a few years back for around $900, at the time it was one of the only ones i cold find with windows xp and a decent screen, that was back when vista came out and everyone thought it was the cats meow but i needed XP to run VAGCOM cause most people were having issues with VAGCOM and vista _________________

Thanks for the input, I've been looking at HPs, Lenovos, and even some refurbs that might be too good of a deal to pass up. _________________ I'd Rather be in Key West.

junky look into sager
http://www.sagernotebook.com/category.php
also i know it says "gaming" laptop but don't let that fool you. a friend of mine his father uses one of these in a Halo room his company owns. he says for the price you can't beat them. they cover you for EVERYTHING.
dell refurb is the way to go if you're not into something like sager and/or another thinkpad. i personally won't buy another thinkpad they're a little behind the times but they make great workstations. _________________
