|
|
I've done a little searching and havent quite found the same problem, I was hoping you guys could help.
I've got a 2003 Passat Wagon GLX with the v6 and just over 100k miles.
I live in Chicago, and when it gets cold (40 degrees or below), I get a "Brake Fault" warning message (3 tones) and it then tells me to check the service manual. Nothing happens to the brakes themselves, everything still works, and it doesn't happen in warm weather. Also, it only happens occasionally and only when making a right turn, or when the street curves to the right.
I'm assuming its just a sensor of some sort that the cold weather is messing with, but I figured I should get other opinions... |

sounds to me like something is loose. have you checked your break pad connections, abs connections, and other electrical oddities that go to the brakes?
it sounds like you get a little moisture in the connection and then the cold gets at it. _________________

I've seen that with a loose ABS Sensor. Clean and reseat it into the bracket. _________________ I'd Rather be in Key West.

Check your brake fluid level and your rear break pads. When rear brake pads are low there is more fluid in cylinders which then indicates sensor inside the reservoir when you turn to the right. I had this happened to me too. _________________

| Thanks for all the advice... I'm assuming its not the pads since its fine in warm weather, but I'm no expert. I'll check the ABS sensors when I get a chance and get back with an update |
