Prime example of how California is using a sledgehammer to swat a fly. They have problems with kids streetracing and since they haven't figured out how to catch them racing, they instead are going after the modifications. Sucks for the folks that either want to modify because they want to personalize their car, or want to race it legally.
And its ghey. _________________

I got a ticket for having a nice car yesterday. When the cop and I stopped chattin, I tossed the paper out the window and burned threw 2 gears pulling away from the cop, lol. Yeah, I'm glad he didn't pull me over for real the next time, lol
And yeah, this vid is so dumb. You can tell the cops that like cars and the cops that don't. If you get pulled for mods, then the cop is not only ignorant about the car and about the law, yo know you're gonna have a hassle on your hands. I was pulled by a cop that knew laws I didn't even know. He was so knowledgeable I didn't even fight with him about anything, HAHA. Damn SD.... _________________ 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan

OK, I don't want to be a complete idiot...but why are all those mods illegal? If I can throw an aftermarket turbo on my car and have it be legal, but not an intake breather? Can somebody shed some light on this please? I am curious what makes a mod legal or illegal, even if it is DOT approved? TIA! _________________ 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan

Being a San Diego native I can tell you first hand that the stipulations regarding the use of this stuff is:
1. Cops in San Diego have better sh!t to do than pull you over for speeding unless you're a complete moron by swerving in and out of lanes or going entirely way too fast. I've had one ticket in Cali in 10 years of driving and I drive far from slow. I didn't even get clocked by radar when I got busted. I was in my Passat and I passed a Highway Patrolwoman @ 95-100 while she was merging on the freeway so she just wrote me a ticket for "85+"; if that's any idea of how little they clock you with radar. The only time you really ever get pulled over is when they have checkpoints set up, but they're always in the same places.
2. Cops in Cali are really really tough on the "ricers". (Hey, am I a riceur because of my Evo? No!) What I mean by riceur is the kids in their Integras and Civic hatchbacks. Lime green paint, huge wings on cars that don't need them. These are the people they hammer on all the time.
3. This will probably only be used in areas where there is rampant street racing, to be able to tell if the car is in fact set up for street racing after being pulled-over for speeding or dragging. (Like the Mira Mesa area where I used to work close to...HUGE for street racing at night because of the long, wide roads)
Bottom line is that this is nothing to worry about unless you're a moron. I've been pulled over more times in the past year here in NJ than all the times combined in Cali, just because the cops back here have no better sh!t to do than to try to hand out revenue tix for their rinky dink towns. Cali cops are generally too laid back for that--seriously. That said, street racing out there has killed A LOT of people in SoCal. A couple every weekend or so I'd say...
