I want to start off by saying that when I got an email from TGO (aka B Dizzle Fizzle) about me being oneB5 for the one-year anniversary of B5one I was completely blown away. My 5.5er is all but completely stock, I live in Vermont, and I never get to see any of the people from the site.

My senior year of college, I started to look at cars that I would like to own. I was driving a giant, ugly van at the time. It was fun and I loved having a ridiculous amount of space but I was going to be graduating and getting a real job and I just didn't want it anymore. I started looking at SUV's but I really did NOT want one. I was sick of the gas mileage with the van. I like the Xterra a lot but I wanted something sportier than an SUV and something with some kick to it. I started to look at wagons but nothing fit me very well. Ford Taurus, ummmm Ð big negative there. I loved VW's and 2 buddies of mine had them, one with a golf and the other with a turbo gti. I loved them. I looked into Jetta wagons because I new I couldn't afford the Passat. I looked at used A4/A6 Variants but nothing there either. I kept coming back to the Passat, I just couldn't stop looking at it but I couldn't afford it.

Three weeks before graduating, I got a decent job making some decent bank. A month after working there, I decided to seriously look at the Passat and see just how out of reach it was. As it turned out, with the money I was making, I could afford it. Lewis Motors had one in the lot. It had been there for 2 days, 4 people had looked at it, one ran numbers, and it wasn't even cleaned yet. It was Thursday. I got no sleep that night and I was going to Maine that weekend and it was Memorial Day weekend. Laura and I talked and we went back the next day to put money down on her. I wanted it so bad I didn't even test-drive her but yet I knew everything about her and felt like I was meant to own this car. Went to Maine and I took delivery on the following Wednesday. You can't imagine the smile that I had on my face driving to work that day. Windows down, roof open with the Monsoon Stereo playing.

I am very particular about music and the first thing that I did to the van was a CD player and some woofers. Well, two weeks after I go the 5er, I decided it was time to put in some subs. I went to a quality place but they couldn't take me for a few days. I am impatient and Best Buy could take me that day. I didn't want to do it there but I am impatient. Next weekend, I am at a buddies house and go to leave Ð she will not turn over. Get her towed and go to the dealer the next morning. Call work Ð ÒI'm gonna be late". I sit in the waiting room for about 45 minutes and they come out. ÒYou better come see this", he says. ÒUm, okay, is she all ready?" "No, your car isn't leaving any time soonÉ." With a really blank look on my face we walk into the shop. There is every technician they have standing around my car. I have never heard such a quiet shop. My front seats are out of the car. ÒSo what's up?" There is a guy crouched down where my front seat should be, he reaches down and pulls back the carpet, water everywhere; six inches of water to be exact. The lovely tech at Best Buy didn't replace the grommet in the firewall and the last 3 days of rain filled up my car. I was not a happy camper. 48 days later and $5600 out of Best Buy's pocket, I finally get my car back. Talk about a bad first experience with buying a car. Even with this and the coil pack issue and everything else, I wouldn't trade her for anything. I love my car.

I feel the need, with just about everything that I own, to make it my own by modifying it. I don't have a lot of money to spend on mods but I like subtle changes. The first thing to go was the shift knob and the antenna. I threw on a MOMO race shift knob and the S2000 antenna (although I have recently been thinking about a different one). I am a geek so I threw in a PS2 and that I can take out at will and a 7" widescreen monitor for the dash. It's a cheap one but it works for now. I integrated it to the stereo so I can blast porno's through Boston when I am stuck on the lower deck Ð sounds great with the subs in the trunk. Other than that, I have a couple of B5one statics on the rear window. That's the best that I can do for mods at this point. There will be more to come eventually J.

I was a member of CB5 but is was getting too big and I felt overwhelmed with the numbers of people. I felt dumb to ask questions because I am very mechanically inept, then I here that TGO is starting up a forum for New England 5er's. I was there. I wish I got to GTG with you guys more but living in Vermont makes things tough. I have only made it to one GTG and it was a blast. I only wish that I had the chance to GTG more often with you folks. Hell, Flipsauce lives in Vermont and I don't even get to see him. (I am calling you out in front of everyone BTW).

I also want to take a minute to thank you guys for making me oneB5. Honestly, there are others on here that should be getting the one-year anniversary but I do appreciate it. Thanks guys and many more to come without a doubt.
