When I started my vehicle search back in the summer of 2003, I wasnÕt to sure of where to start. I did not have my heart set on any type of vehicle; let alone a make or model. During this time my buddy bought a 2000 Volkswagen Golf. I liked the quality of the interior and the sound of the 1.8T. The only thing I was not to fond of was the lack of room in the back seat. So I went over to my local VW dealer to see what they had.

That would be the start to the biggest love hate relationship of my life. I was introduced to a 1998 black magic pearl Volkswagen Passat sedan. It was the car I had be lusting for. It sporty yet versatile. It was the bigger sized car with some power that I had been looking for. And from this point on, the wallet is never full.

Thanks to the many online forums (B5one, ClubB5, NorcalVW, The Passat.com); I have been able to learn about many upgrades to my car. I started off with baby steps. Adding clear corners, clear side markers and the NB sunglasses holder. Then when my income picked up in the summer of 2004; the big changes came! The addition of my 18" Flik arctics made the car come to life for me. The I dropped in the Alpine stereo and pioneer subs powered by a Sony amp. Now the car was becoming ÒcoolÓ. But I thought the car needed more personality. So with the addition of a Euro plate, 3 different grills, eyelids, stubby antenna, debadging, chrome door handles and mirror covers and the custom tinting job on the tail lights, the car was becoming more unique.

This car seems to be a never ending project. It has had its maintenance issues, and a dent and scratch here or there, but I love this car. I have considered selling my car a number of times, but I cant let her go. I have a lot in store for this car in the up coming year!

In closing, I would like to thank everyone for their advice, support, and friendships. This car would not be where it is today without the help of my parents (Steve and Cindy), The VW Mafia, my SacTown VW crew and my girlfriend Kaila.
