It all started the winter of 2000 when my friend lent me her '98 variant for a week while my ÒtrustyÓ old Volvo was in the shop (again). After a week in that car, I was in love. When it came time to actually buy a car, I was trying to decide between the A4, 3 series, and the VW. When I saw John Martinez' (jdub) car on the internet, I decided that the Passat was what I wanted. It was a great car, fit my budget, had an AWD option, and showed a lot of potential for modding. A hundred phone calls to dealerships in 4 different states later, I found my Black on Black 4-motion and picked it up on January 2, 2002.

When I first got the car, I said the same thing that every other Passat owner has said, ÒIt's perfect! I'm not going to mod it.Ó Who was I kidding? At first, I resisted the temptation, for all of one winter, but when I found Vortex and then ClubB5, it was all downhill from there. I started small, exchanging my taillights for tinted tails with another CB5 member, but I wanted more! After I upgraded my sound system, got HIDs, wheels, suspension, Supersprint exhaust, and countless other subtle mods, the car was completely different from the day I drove it off the lot.

Of course, I keep telling myself, and my girlfriend, that this will be the last mod, but let's be honest, the modding will never stop! I've really enjoyed making the car unique. The goal is to make it a head turner and there's still a lot more work to do, but it's a lot of good fun.

Ever since B5one was started this year it's been my new local and cyber hangout. It's great to have a bunch of enthusiasts close by to chill with and to help out with things. I've had a lot of fun here and I'm sure that great things will happen on B5one.

I've got way too many people to thank, but I need to especially thank my mom and my girlfriend for bearing with me while I mod away. There are countless other members who have helped me with installs, advice, and support. I couldn't have done it without you guys! Thank you. Happy modding!
