b5bel (Bel) Amazing to think that when I originally bought this car, I was going to keep it stock. I had just sold my '83 Audi Quattro. It was very fast, and tons of fun, but it was a money pit. I didn't want to throw away my money anymore. I wanted a reliable car that I can drive everyday, have some decent looks, and move when I wanted it to. But, it's like they say, once you have the "fever", it's in you for life.
The first things to go were the stock springs. I still wanted to keep my car "kinda" stock, so I went with the VW/Eibach sport springs from the dealer. Once I changed one thing, then the snowball started rolling downhill. Next thing I knew, I was searching online and finding all these VW/Audi enthusiast websites. Off with the grill, change the exhaust, get a chip, drop in a new air filter and throw on a set of wheels. The snowball was picking up speed and getting pretty big. Swap out the entire suspension for coilovers and swaybars, bigger brakes, and a few odds and ends here and there. So now the car looks fast, but is it? Up steps up the bigger turbo and boost controller.
So now my Passat is just like I originally wanted it. Reliable, has some decent looks, and it moves when I want it to. Just with a little bit of the "Bel touch". It's endless fun modding cars, and I don't think that I'll ever shake this "fever".
Now I look back and ask myself, what haven't I changed or modified on this car? This thing is one hell of a snowball, almost the size of a small city. ;-)
I'd like to take a little bit of time to thank the B5One community for their support. All of those who do research (especially overseas) for us to do new things to our cars. All automobile drivers that have that never ending passion. And last, but not least, thank you to my girlfriend Cathy for supporting me, and being with me every step of the way.
