I first want to say thanks to Bryan for selecting my car as oneB5 — it's really an honor to represent B5one in this way and while I don't feel like my car measures up to some of the past winners, I wear the crown proudly.

I bought my 1999 Passat in August of 2001, and didn't do a single modification to it until February 2004 because quite frankly it had never occurred to me to do so. I needed to have some minor repairs done and one of my friends with a BMW mentioned that he frequents BMW forums and suggested I look for one for VWs. That's when I found Club B5 and then shortly afterward B5one. With B5one, I felt like I had found a forum where the members supported each other and had fun without feeling the need to constantly debate everything. Of course with this came a strong pull to do more to my car so the mods began. I started out doing the little inexpensive things, like the NB SG holder and a K & N filter. Since then it's just been one more thing after another and while I don't have nearly the level of modifications as some, I do still consider my car a work in progress. I've listed my mods below, but a lot of the stuff I've done has also been maintenance as my car now has almost 100,000 miles on her. Everyone at B5one has been a huge asset to me in my journey from knowing almost nothing about my car, to being comfortable tackling some of the mods and maintenance myself. I've had help from members actually installing modifications or fixes and for that I am especially grateful. This is an amazing community. Special thanks for contributing to my project goes to B Dizzle Fizzle (Bryan), 1.8Tabamoura (Fabio), Scuba (Steve), Curry (Ryan), 1.8Tbeout (Bob), Stealth (Jimmy), and others. They've all contributed either with actual install, with encouragement/inspiration or with hook-ups.

I originally thought I'd be done after a few personalization modifications, but after each one, I want another and then another. I'm slowing down a bit now due to maintenance costs — I'll be replacing the shocks sometime over the winter, but I expect that soon enough, I'll be installing a new exhaust, a new shift knob from the Audi TT, and some other stuff that I haven't even decided on yet.
