I want to thank everyone involved for choosing me as December's oneB5. I'm honored to join a distinguished group of people/cars and proud to rep the B5 Audi's. I'm glad I found this community so quickly after purchasing my S4, everyone I've met so far has been great and it's nice to be able to browse a helpful/friendly forum everyday. I've been into cars since I was a little kid. My dad's best friend owned a body & paint shop and he would go down there several times per week to check things out and shoot the breeze and usually I would tag along. Most of the cars were your average insurance fix-ups but occasionally there would be a hot rod or two and I found myself instantly taken with the more powerful, modified cars. Growing up in Pittsburgh, PA I loved attending cars shows, cruises, flea markets and going to drag races in Ohio. I begged for my license since the day I turned 16 but didn't get it until I was 18 and was finally able to get my own car when I was 20; a used bright white 1998 Cavalier Z24 Coupe.
It was a great car for me at the time and the first two years I was able to keep it in show car condition and ended up doing some exterior/engine mods to it. I believe my first mods were debadging, CAI and a custom striped antenna that I conjured up. I've always had some creative ideas lurking just some were too expensive to realize. I had installed underground's on the car as well and was one of the first in the area to have them but once Fast & The Furious came out they popped up everywhere so I quickly deinstalled. Then I decided the car was too slow and decided on a Zex dry nitrous kit. I had never installed something that complicated by myself but the day the kit came I just went for it and can still remember my neighbor's calling the cops on me because I was power drilling holes in my trunk at 9:01am. Sadly a crazy work schedule and two relationships took it's toll on the Z and I was just starting to look around for a new car when I finally received the job offer I had been waiting three years for, but it was in New England. I took a trip up here in March to visit the area and only had two days to scope out Mass. & NH and for several reasons decided on Manchester. I knew I wanted an AWD vehicle and test drove a Fusion & Milan and I was close to leasing a nice black w/leather V6 Premier when I saw an S4 in eastern NH within my price range that had my name written all over it. After a close inspection, two test drives and much haggling I drove home in May with my stock 2002 S4 with 30k on the clock.
Since I already had the Hawnduh and this was going to be my work car my plan was to keep it stock, maybe just some new wheels. The wheels came and I couldn't help but browse for more aftermarket parts and pretty soon I had my carbon hood & grille, engine mods and a hundred more ideas. I'm not sure what the future will bring since the hawnduh project came first and I'm committed to taking care of it especially since I already spent nearly all of that saved money on the S4. But knowing me eventually the car will move forward one way or another... Again, I want to thank this community for being top notch and I look forward to TDH next year, good times and meeting a bunch of new people.
